Ceramic Residency

Wheel of Life Studios offers a short-term ceramic residency for experienced potters and artists seeking dedicated time and space to focus on their practice within an established and supportive studio environment.

Residency Details

This residency offers a really lovely opportunity to step into the studio and focus on making within the Byron Shire community.

  • Flexible stay lengths (2-week residencies welcome)

  • Suitable for experienced ceramic artists working independently

  • $700 per week — 1 person

    $1,000 per week — 2 people sharing

  • – Your own designated workspace

    – Access to the studio daily and most evenings

    Use of equipment:

    • Venco direct drive wheel

    • Slab roller

    • Extruder

    • Full set of studio tools

    • Large Hilldav stoneware kiln (75cm internal height)

    A 1-hour orientation session on your first day to go through studio logistics and help you settle in

  • Additional support or tuition is available at $70/hour, including glaze work and glaze making if desired.

    Glazes made in the studio are charged by weight, with a wide range of materials available on site.

  • Bisque firing from $8

    $14/kg, for both bisque and glaze firing

  • Wheel of Life also includes a separate community space used for workshops, meetings, and exhibitions.

    This space is available to book from Friday to Sunday and comfortably seats up to 18 people.
